SPNDX Stampede returns with vol. 4 and this edition is our first where we venture out of Temecula to a new location high up in the mountains in Big Bear.
The Tour of Big Bear has invited us up to come join their cycling festival week as their week of spandex has many events which will finalize with our Gravel Stampede on Sunday. Based out the village in the heart of Big Bear we will use the same area that the Tour de Big Bear uses for their Saturday fondo.
True to SPNDX Stampede nature our route is no death march but is fun yet still challenging. With a 44 mile route which is primarily dirt you will ride through the tree’s in Big Bear, slice through some single track and even hit some parts of Big Bear that no other cycling event has done high up by the ski lifts. You will climb close to 4,000 feet and you pair that with the thin air and you will be stoked that the route is only 44 miles.
This is a Gravel ride so be sure to bring your gravel bike. We suggest tire size in 32 range or larger. Disc brakes are always a plus and have enough gearing to get up some steep pitches. This can be done as well on a mountain bike due to the terrain and you best leave that road bike at home.
This is a fully supported ride where we will have three support stations on hand to offer you up drinks and treats during the ride. This is by no means a race but we do time our ride for riders to compare once finished. This route is marked but please download the GPS file for the best accuracy. Most important though is that we limit our rides to only 200 riders to keep the quality high so be sure to register before we sell out. 6:30am packet pick up & 8am roll out. Due to the event being in the village we will will have beers post ride but no food, hence the cheaper entry fee for this event.
